•World Hepatitis Day Event at the United Nations Park on May 19th. Join us!•World Hepatitis Awareness Day Educational Event at Weill Cornell Medical College. Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and The Center for The Study of Hepatitis C. Tuesday, May 19, 2009, 6:00pm-8:00pm. 1300 York Avenue, Conference Room A-126 New York, NY 1002. Plan a Hepatitis Awareness Event at your Organization

On Site Awareness Event Ideas

•Set up an Awareness Table at your organization for the month of May or on May 19th
•Use viral hepatitis posters, public health brochures, videos and a knowledgeable staff member, peer or patient advocate to answer questions. (See ordering section below)
•Host a Viral Hepatitis Screening Day at your organization or with a partner organization. If you need help finding a partner screening site, contact njohnso2@health.nyc.gov •Screen, or conduct a viral hepatitis risk assessment, on all of your clients during the month of May•Provide a Viral Hepatitis Education Event for your staff and/or program participants
•Invite a viral hepatitis expert speaker to your organization
•Ask a patient living with viral hepatitis at your organization to speak about his or her experience
•Create a Public Art Project, such as a mural, art show, poetry slam, or musical event to increase awareness

Community Outreach Ideas

•Send a team of Health Outreach Workers to the streets with public health materials about hepatitis prevention.
•Distribute viral hepatitis information, and your program information, to local social service organizations, religious organizations, schools, tenants, businesses, and cultural centers.
•Include viral hepatitis information or a patient story in your organization’s newsletter.
