HCV Awareness

This is my own personal Blog on what is happening today with HCV Awareness and additional info on Hepatitis and HIV co-infection. I will try to post weekly news on what is going on with treatments available today and in the near future. Additionally I will now and then add a soup recipe or a juicing recipe or a motivational quote. I can be contacted by email at ScottWeinstein@Verizon.net or at MrWeinstein007@gmail.com

About Me

Scott Weinstein

I'm Hep C positive for over 40 years and have been on treatment three times. Once it was with weekly shots of Peginterferon and 6 Ribavirin pills daily for 8 months, next it was Pegasys two shots weekly with 6 Ribavirin pills daily and a shot of Procrit each week for 8 months and lastly daily shots of Infergen with 6 Ribavirin pills daily and two shots of Procrit weekly. I am a true non-responder. This is for those thinking about going on treatment, family and friends of those with Hepatitis and non-responders wondering what the future holds. Let me add that the future does hold good news for those of us who have been like myself, there is hope out there with Protease Inhibitors etc even for those like myself who have become Cirrhotic. I have been a member of a Liver Support group at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City for the last four years and have done some work with the New York City Dept. of Health, the New York State Dept. of Health, the New York City Harlem Task Force for HCV, their Pathways Subcommittee Group and recently have gone to speak to Assembly persons on the New York State Legislature to try and get a bill passed for funding for HCV awareness in New York State.
